Sudarmono Kiramang

I am working with Professor Humphries as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar (2026-2027; Indonesia). My expertise is in food security and small-scale fisheries governance. I am interested in research on the socio-economic resilience of small-scale fishing communities, food security policy, decentralization and local governance, and the representation of women’s collectives in fisheries production and policy-making.

I earned my PhD in Development Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and an M.Sc. in Development Administration from Hasanuddin University; I completed my undergraduate B.A. degree in Government at the Institute of Home Affairs Governance (Institut Pemerintahan Dalam Negeri).

Prior to my academic career, I spent over a decade as a civil servant in local government administration in South Sulawesi, Indonesia — including as Head of Food Security and Food Distribution for the City of Makassar. I am currently an Associate Professor in Development Studies and Head of the Centre for Strategic Analysis for Local Government at the Institut Pemerintahan Dalam Negeri.
