Han Le (she/her)

I am a PhD student in the Humphries Lab and the Department of Marine Affairs. My research explores the vulnerability of small-scale fishers in Vietnam to climate change and evaluates the effectiveness of livelihood diversification as an adaptation strategy. By employing vulnerability indices, network analysis, and a systematic literature review, my research aims to assess the socioeconomic factors that influence small-scale fishers' resilience. It also investigates how diversification strategies may enhance or hinder their ability to adapt. The findings will provide valuable insights for policymakers to support adaptive capacities and sustainable livelihoods in Vietnam and Southeast Asia's coastal fishing communities.

Prior to my current role, I served as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources, Nong Lam University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. During this time, I actively participated in various projects and research initiatives, particularly evaluating the monetary value of ecosystem services and community vulnerability to climate change. I also worked with several NGOs, such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the World Resources Institute (WRI) in Indonesia, and the Tropical Rainforest Conservation and Research Centre (TRCRC) in Malaysia on projects related to climate change, wetland management, and peatland conservation. I obtained an MS in Environmental Management from the University of Science (Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam) and an MS in Natural Resource Management from the Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand).
